IronStack release notes
Release 0.1.1, build 72
Shipped as build 72 45 changes, grouped by where you'll notice them.
What changed
Today
- Check-in is one sheet for the start of a workout. Tap Check in beside Home or Away, or in the ··· menu: bodyweight, sleep, home or away, how you feel, then how you came in (slept, energy, stress, soreness, headache). Leave any of it blank. How you came in used to wait for the finish sheet. Once you’ve answered, the menu says Edit check-in, and History, Stack AI and a coach you share notes with see only your latest check-in.
- Today’s ··· menu says what each edit does: “Reorder, group or remove exercises” and “Change planned sets”. Plan is no longer in it; it’s always in the tab bar.
- Before you start, and under Up next, a superset or circuit no longer shows “A1” and “A2” tags. Its exercises sit together under one line that names it, such as “Superset · 2 exercises”, joined by a line down their side, as they are once you’ve started.
- An exercise from today’s superset or circuit that you add by typing it, saying it or picking it in Add an exercise joins its group with its planned sets, so your first log moves on to the next exercise, as a tap under Up next does.
- An exercise renamed or swapped by a Stack AI card is counted once. Up next no longer brings the old name back, and Finish comes up when you’re done.
- End a workout with nothing logged and Today asks “Nothing logged. End without saving?”. An empty workout is never saved: not to History, Health or your program. Empty ones already in History are hidden.
- Changing the bar or implement during a workout works again: pick one, choose its weight, then Done. The next set opens on it too. Cancel leaves it as it was.
The clock
- Every clock warns the same way, on the phone and the watch: it turns red at 10 seconds left, and at 5 the panel goes solid with a beat, the taps and the voice. The Lock Screen turns red at 10 too.
- Voice cues follow the ringer switch as it is now: muted, the phone buzzes; unmuted, it speaks, even if you flipped it mid-rest. A call or Siri cutting off a cue no longer leaves the phone buzzing for the rest of the workout.
- With your watch in the workout, the heart-rate number keeps its place on the clock, so a late reading no longer makes the panel jump.
Exercise library
- The library is in sections by movement: Your exercises, Lifting, Strongman, Conditioning, Jumps, sprints & agility, Sports, Pilates & barre, Yoga & mobility. Tap Sections on any header to go straight to a section, or to a part of Lifting such as Squats or Hips & groin. The same list is in Add an exercise on Today.
- Settings › Training › Library sections chooses which sections show when you browse. Every section shows to start with, Sports too. Search and filters always find everything, hidden or not.
- When search results come from more than one section, each one says which, such as “Conditioning · Hyrox” under Wall Ball.
- The Training, Muscle and Equipment buttons and their chips are bigger and easier to see.
- Basketball and lacrosse: 86 new exercises (jumps, speed, agility, shooting, ball handling, wall ball and more) on a new Sports shelf under Training. Search “hoops”, “lax”, “plyo” or “agility”.
- Some exercises now carry a coaching note on their page, such as how to land a depth jump.
- Shooting drills say what a rep is on the set sheet: “Reps are makes” (or goals, wins, saves). Plan the shots you’ll take and log the makes: a set still to do reads “planned 25”, and once logged it reads “19 makes · planned 25” (“19 makes” when nothing was planned for it). Today, History and Coach mode never mark fewer makes than planned as missed, and these drills don’t offer the Timer, on the phone or the watch.
- Drop and Turn is another name for Yoke Walk, and Elbows Out DB Extensions for Tate Press, so sets logged under either name join that exercise’s history.
Plan
- A row under Plan’s title goes straight to Program, Programs, Workouts or the exercise library, and stays put while you scroll.
History
- Workouts and Progress have a large title under the switch, so you can see which page you’re on.
- On an exercise’s page, the range you pick (3 months, 1 year and so on) sets the whole page: the best line, the list of past workouts and the count follow it, not only the chart.
Home and Social
- Support stays in step between Social and Home. Your newest tap wins, a tap the network dropped is tried once more, and Home’s Support line clears once Social is reached. Signing out clears Home’s Lifted you list; deleting your Social account keeps your counts and badges and drops the names.
- Notifications from Social and from your coach never show anything you typed. “@dana needs a look.” names no word of the note, and a Support reads “supported your workout.” without the card’s title.
Coach mode (beta)
- Every way into coaching (asking a coach, accepting an invite, and Coach me) says what our server does with your shared workouts: it holds them for your coach, checks shared notes for words like “pain” so it can alert your coach, and deletes them when the link ends. It also says your coach can ask Stack AI to summarize a week of your training.
- Tell Stack AI you’re on a coach’s plan and it will still build a workout for today, but a new program is a suggestion for your coach.
Stack AI
- The Stack AI chat opens at the latest message, with the message box under it, and stays there as replies come in. Scroll up to read back and it stays put; Latest takes you back, and says New reply when one came in. With the keyboard up, the latest stays in view.
- The Stack AI button is the new Stack AI mark, three plates: the top one lit when Stack AI is on, outlines when it’s off or before you’ve said yes.
- Stack AI builds a workout or a program when you ask for one, from what you asked and your log, on a card. One you send it is still written down exactly as it is.
- Ask Stack AI to change a workout it drafted and the change comes back as a card, never as the workout written out in the chat. What it says is only about the cards in that reply, and it never calls a card saved: nothing changes until you tap it.
- Save to Plan on a workout Stack AI revised replaces that workout in your Plan instead of adding a second copy. Weights, weeks and rows are kept where they still fit.
- Dumbbell lifts and other lifts held in both hands are read per hand. Stack AI’s load cards say “each hand”, in the lift’s own unit, and the set sheet opens per hand. The most it suggests for one of these lifts is never higher than before.
- When Stack AI is broken on our side, it says “Stack AI isn’t working on our side right now. It isn’t anything you did.” instead of saying it couldn’t reach the model.
- Copy my log to the server is gone, and everything it copied has been erased from the server. Settings › Stack AI › What the server holds shows what the server keeps for this phone.
Apple Watch
- The set page on the watch is new. Weight, reps and RPE are three numbers: tap one and turn the Digital Crown to change it. Nothing logs until you tap Log set. RPE opens a bigger picker with half steps (6 to 8 first, swipe for 8.5 to 10), on the page of the RPE you last gave that lift. After a set, Edit and Undo are right there, and Edit keeps the RPE you logged.
- The watch’s set page fits the screen: the weight, Reps, RPE and Log set are all in view, with nothing hidden under Log set. On 40 to 44 mm watches, the lift and the rest clock sit at the top beside the time.
- Under the weight, the watch shows the plates per side for the weight your phone planned. Turn the Crown to another weight and that line goes blank for now; plate math on the watch comes in a later update.
- Heart rate is on the watch’s Clock page, no longer on the set page.
- Finish a workout on your watch and your phone offers to share it, once, when you’re next on Today (signed in to Social). Until then the watch says “Share it from your iPhone”. Settings › Notifications › Share a watch workout turns this off.
- Finish on the watch with nothing logged and it says so, and saves nothing to Health.
- Settings › Apple Watch is one section, and it shows the watch app’s own version, such as “Watch app 0.1.1 (54)”. The phone’s build shows beside it only when the two don’t match.
Settings
- Settings › Gym has one place for everything your gym has: Available equipment, with plates, bars and implements, bands, fixed weights and other equipment. Every link to it on the set screen opens the right part. “What kind of room” is gone. Once Other equipment has something ticked, Swap also counts the dumbbells, kettlebells and bands you’ve set.
- A bodyweight that came from Apple Health now stays current with your newest weigh-in when you come back to the app (at most once an hour), while Fill in sleep and bodyweight from Health is on. An empty bodyweight is filled from Health too. A weight you typed is never changed, and “I’d rather not say” is kept.
- Settings › You says “Add your sex to see your strength score.” only until you answer. If Apple Health knows, it offers Health’s answer instead, used only if you tap it.
- Sharing your export from Settings › Your data keeps the share sheet and Settings up, however big your log. Both used to close after a second.
- Settings and the tour say a set is logged where they used to say it lands, as in “Start the rest when a set is logged”.
